Morning
DG,
Hope you & Ali had
a good break?
Sorry to send this to
you as I know you are only just back today.
After speaking to Paul
& Colin they are both in agreement that trying to adjust the feet on the
kitchen units to accommodate the slop will not be acceptable to
her.
As I can no longer take
this further she has asked for you e-mail & contact number, I explained that
you are away at present & will not be back in to the office until
tomorrow.
You may want to speak
to Paul because he believes that the type of person we are dealing with she
could take this further and try to damage Mr Carpet’s
reputation.
P & M would need a
day to sort + I box tiles & adhesive which would cost around
£350.
I have attached the
original quotation that confirms how we would install the flooring but
thereafter it has gone slightly pear shaped to say the
least.
It is entirely your
call on how we come to a conclusion but she will be expecting a response
tomorrow.
I am off today as the
car is in for the oil leak service but you can call me on my mobile to discuss
further
Cheers,
John

Dear
John,
Because there had
been a leak under the washing m/c, it became necessary to carry out works of
repair to the floor in the
kitchen/bathroom.
Because of this
leak, when your fitter came to remove the original floor a significant area of
damp was revealed. The fitter removed this and proceeded to lay plywood.
However, this was unsatisfactory in that it gave rise to an unlevel floor
of some 2c/ms.
The following day
your estimator inspected and agreed that further work needed to be carried
out in order to rectify the unevenness of the
floor.
Graham Molnar
stated in his e-mail of 14 March that additional plywood and screed was required
over the original contract price and extra cost of remedial material could be as
much as £300, depending on the quantity of material
required.
The fitter
returned and carried out further work but the floor remains uneven and is in
parts 1 to 1.5 c/ms too low and in others too
high.
It would appear
from your e-mail that there is a lack of agreement as to the facts reported to
you by your fitter.
The simple
position is that your firm was engaged to repair a floor and carry out remedial
work and the whole object of the contract between us has not been
achieved.
Yours
sincerely,
Christina
Lund

Subject: RE: Flat G,
Dear
Christina,
I have
spoken again to my fitter Grant this morning & the additional labour &
materials of plywood & screed (that Graham did not charge you for the
screed) is for screeding the hearth & building up the floor which was only
apparent once the old laminate was uplifted.
When
Grant returned to install the flooring he has told me that you had removed the
old laminate flooring & fibre board that went beyond the Kitchen units which
we had never agreed (see attached quotation dated 4th February)
If
this had been left as agreed we wouldn’t be in this situation which we are in
with the Kitchen floor sloping on one side.
As I
have explained in my previous letter if you would like this to be rectified Paul
has spoken to a flooring company that would be prepared to uplift the tiles on
one side, build this up with layers of flex-screed & return the following
day to install the tiles.
We
would supply you the tiles free of charge but you would need to pay P & M
flooring direct which would be between £360 - £400 for 2 visits +
materials.
If you
would like to proceed with the additional work I will contact them to arrange a
suitable time for all parties.
Many
thanks & regards,
John

Subject: Re: Flat G,
Dear
John,
With reference to
your e-mail dated 12th April, my
reply is as follows:
The whole object of the work which your
firm was to carry out was to replace the kitchen and bathroom floor so as to
provide a level surface upon which I could move about without risk of tripping
or slipping. This was to be achieved by means of removing the original
flooring and its underlay and replacing with plywood and laying tiles to
suit. On arrival to execute the work it was evident that the quantity of
plywood which the fitter had brought was insufficient for the job.
Accordingly you agreed to install additional plywood and lay a screed on top
with extra packing as necessary.
Because of the additional work involved I agree to pay a sum of £120 for labour
and £30 for materials over the contract price. It is not clear, therefore
upon what basis you expect me to pay a yet further sum in order that the
contract works be satisfactorily
concluded.
Yours
sincerely,
Christina

Dear
Mrs Lund,
Please find attached
my response to your complaint of Moduleo vinyl tile installation on
13th & 14th March 2017 installed by our fitter Grant
Meade.
From
our original site visit by my measurer Paul who advised you that we were unable
to remove the w/c as this would need to be undertaken prior to installation by
plumbers/tradesman, also we would only install the Moduleo flooring just
underneath the kitchen plinths.
Please do not hesitate
to contact me if you need to discuss any aspects of my attached
letter.
Many
thanks & regards,
John
