This is to acknowledge receipt of your email, the content of which we find both untruthful and menacing. 

My wife and I wish to settle matters quickly and equitably. We propose that you send someone to repair and finish installing the carpet, and once the work is completed to our satisfaction, we will pay you £400. We can meet you in person for further discussions if you are available.
