I own a Dyson Big Ball Animal vacuum, and the main carpet head that came supplied was inadequate for our thick carpets. The head would get sucked onto the carpet to such an extent that it became difficult to push/pull it across the floor and it would take multiple attempts to get a successful pickup.
The design of this Turbine Floor tool is much better at both moving across thick carpets and more importantly does a great job at picking up pet hair and general debris without much in the way of multiple passes. It doesn't seem to suck to the carpet as much making it much easier on the arms/wrists, and it's pretty easy to turn around corners etc.
As others have already said, this transformed our vacuum and has made the job of carpet cleaning a whole lot easier and in turn quicker. Just remember to make a habit of cleaning the brush bar regularly (after every use if you can) so as to stop hair from building up and diminishing it's effectiveness.
